Boys Basketball

Coach James is entering his fourth season as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Bishop Hartley High School, bringing more than 24 years of coaching experience to the program. During his tenure at Bishop Hartley, he has compiled an impressive 54–20 record. Before becoming head coach, Coach James served as an assistant coach for the boys basketball team, following a successful stint as an assistant coach for the Bishop Hartley girls basketball program.

Throughout his time as head coach, Coach James has earned numerous honors. In 2024, he was named both the district 10 and All-Central District Coach of the Year. In addition to leading the Hawks, Coach James serves as the Director of Nova Village Athletic Club, a prominent AAU organization in the Columbus area. While directing Nova Village, he also spent seven years as the head coach at Grace Christian Middle School, capturing the conference championship each season.

Before his high school coaching career, Coach James was the head coach of the men’s basketball program at Tiffin University—his alma mater—where he led the team for four years. As a player, he distinguished himself on the court, earning All-American honors during his senior year at Tiffin.
