Student & Building Safety

Facade

There is nothing more important than the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff.

Bishop Hartley has two School Safety Officers, both retired Columbus police officers. Together, they manage all safety procedures and, in partnership with experts and aligned to national best practices, make regular adjustments and additions in terms of procedures and equipment. These include:

  • Constant Level 1 Lockdown procedures with exterior doors locked and visitors only admitted through main school doors.
  • Faculty and Staff Tabletop and Scenario Training for active shooters, levels 1, 2, and 3 lockdowns, and fire/tornado drills.
  • First Aid & A.E.D. Equipment placed strategically throughout the building.
  • Classroom Safety Bags containing critical items in the event of an extended situation or lockdown.

We are at the forefront of preparation while keeping in mind that, as in all matters, we must pray for the safety of all.

Bishop Hartley continues to work diligently in collaboration with the Diocese of Columbus, our local health department, and the State Department of Education to ensure students and staff have a healthy and safe learning environment.
