In addition to the required course credits in Health & Wellness and Physical Education, Bishop Hartley students have the unique opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of topics and explore elective courses in Nutrition—for life, sport, and performance—Lifetime Fitness, and Strength-Conditioning Students also have the option to earn their Physical Education credit during the summer in June by engaging in a variety of on and off-campus activities. This is a great chance for students to interact with their peers and future classmates. To sign up for Summer Physical Education, students must be enrolled and it is first-come/firstserved. Students will receive information with their scheduling packet from the guidance office.

Offering several elective courses outside the traditional Health and
Physical Education, curriculum exposes students to subjects, topics, college majors, and possibly careers within those disciplines.

To enroll in the additional elective courses such as Nutrition, Lifetime Fitness, and Strength-Conditioning and Performance Nutrition, a student must be a sophomore to take Nutrition; only sophomores and seniors may sign up for Lifetime Fitness, and Strength and Conditioning.


In addition to the more than 20 athletic teams and programs, Bishop Hartley offers related clubs, including Ski Club, Dance Team, Ultimate Frisbee, and Water Polo Club. Learn more about these clubs.

Health Promotion & Sport Science Department

Mr. Jeremiah Triplett

Jeremiah (J.T.) Triplett, Health Promotion & Sport Science Department Chair, has taught at Bishop Hartley for more than 20 years. He received his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (Health, Grades 7-12 and (Physical Education, Grades K-12) with a concentration in Sports Medicine. He also is certified by the Ohio High School Athletic Association National Federation of High School Associations, and has numerous other certifications including archery instruction, first aid, concussion, and cardiac arrest.

In addition to his roles as educator and department chair, Mr. Triplet leads Bishop Hartley's ski club. He has also coached Bishop Hartley football, golf, and baseball in his more than two decades with the school, and currently coaches youth travel baseball.
