Q&A with School Captain, Lauren Whitlatch

What school(s) did you attend before Bishop Hartley?

I went to St. Matthew, kindergarten – 8th grade.

What extracurriculars, athletics, and clubs are you involved in?

I am a School Captain, President of the National Honor Society, and Student Ambassador. I am a member of the Hawks Who Pray club, Morgan’s Message, and the Speech & Debate team. I am the Varsity girls golf captain and actress for productions at both Hartley and St. Charles. I am a Sunday School teacher at St. Matthew and volunteer for the Women’s Care Center.

Who is your favorite teacher(s)?

My favorite teachers are Mrs. Howard, Mrs. Hendrix, Mr. Trimner, Profe Schroyer, Mrs. Klein, Mr. Kowalski, and Coach Heicher.

What is your favorite class(es)?

My favorite classes this year are AP Statistics, AP Chemistry, and AP Literature.

What's your favorite lunch(es)?

Buckeye bars are the best dessert in the cafeteria!

What do you love most about Hartley?

What I love most about Bishop Hartley and being a hawk are the numerous opportunities to grow in both my faith and leadership. I feel God’s presence every day on campus through the students and teachers, and I am grateful for the ability to have daily class where I learn more about the faith, monthly masses, and religious retreats with my whole class. Hartley also has helped me grow in my leadership skills and confidence as a young adult.

Why is your House the best?

Victory is the best house because I believe we have some of the best House captains ever. Our group of leaders is extremely hardworking and creative, and I love their energy on House Days. Their spirit and character are unmatched, and I am proud to call them my fellow Vikings.

What are you most looking forward to your senior year?

My senior year, I am looking forward to my final golf season with the greatest team, and I am also excited to be a leader on the senior Kairos retreat.

What are your plans after graduating?

After graduation, I plan to attend college and study either business or psychology, with the intention of attending law school after. The summer after my senior year, I would love to travel as much as possible and spend lots of time with family and friends in Columbus before the next stage of my life.

What's your favorite quote or mantra? You can have more than one!

St. John Paul II: “Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.”

Taylor Swift: “No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.”

What else should the Hartley community know about you?

I am beyond grateful for the wonderful people I have met and have been blessed to work with in this community, and I will miss everyone greatly after graduation! Outside of Hartley, I am also amazing at Mario Kart and always beat my friends.
