SCHOOL CAPTAINS
The School Captains are responsible for the atmosphere of care and concern for the entire school as fostered by the House System. They will actively support the House Deans and Mentor Teachers with house activities, and are responsible for the organization of events that involve the entire school. They will also coordinate school wide efforts with the House Captains and lead the training/reflection of the mentor group captains. The School Captains will also represent the student body at school and public functions, while overseeing meetings with all other captains and the House Director on a monthly basis. The School Captains should demonstrate a commitment to our school’s Six Pillars: Faith, Preparation, Community, Service, Spirit, and Leadership; approach academics with a diligent attitude, and treat all Hartley students, especially underclassmen, with a sense of pastoral care. School captains are responsible for helping to shape the school’s culture, set goals, and uphold the vision of Bishop Hartley High School.
SENIOR AND JUNIOR HOUSE CAPTAINS
The Senior and Junior House Captain is responsible for the atmosphere of care and concern for students within the House and actively supports and works with the House Director, House Dean, Mentor Teachers and Mentor Group Leaders in regard to House, school, and mentor group activities. The House Captain must also work and meet consistently with the House Dean to plan and oversee House events, and fulfill these responsibilities from the time they are elected until the next set of leaders are elected.

ADDITIONAL ROLE: As a senior or junior house captain, you will be placed in one of the six mentor groups in your house (this may require you to switch mentor groups). You, along with a mentor group captain(s) will take a proactive role with the Mentor Teacher to help plan, organize, implement, and facilitate meaningful activities, events, and conversations aligned with the objectives of the Leadership Course in Mentor Group.
HOUSE MEDIA CAPTAIN
The House Media Captain is responsible for capturing the school pillars (Faith, Preparation, Community, Spirit, Service & Leadership) through the lens of the House System. As a House Media Captain, the student should film, record, picture, edit and produce pieces that highlight the six pillars being brought to life in house activities and events including mentor group, house days, house gatherings, service days and other house related events.
Job Description:
The House Media Captain is responsible for capturing the school pillars (Faith, Preparation, Community, Spirit, Service & Leadership) through the lens of the House System. As a House Media Captain, the student should film, record, picture, edit and produce pieces that highlight the six pillars being brought to life in house activities and events including mentor group, house days, house gatherings, service days and other house related events.
Roles and Responsibilities include:
- Producing a 3-4 minute overview of the house system for 8th Grade Visits, Open House, and general publication for the community
- Capturing pictures of all mentor groups on House Picture Day in the fall
- Producing a monthly piece of 60-90 seconds highlighting one school pillar through the House System
- Capturing and producing short recaps of House Days or major house events
- Producing short hype videos for house days
- Producing House Cup Champions videos at the end of the house cup champions celebration
