This 3-day camp includes an exploration of journalistic writing and the role of the journalist in our current world. See the differences in traditional print media, television, and radio. We will hear from experts in the field to be determined and announced at a later date.
Bishop Hartley 2021 SPICE* (Special People in Catholic Education) Social Group Summer Camp
*SPICE is an organization that supports inclusion in Catholic schools by raising awareness of students’ special needs and also funding programs/ support for students and their families in a Catholic school.
Our social group focuses on general social skills and the specific needs of students going through adolescence. This camp is designed for incoming 6th-9th graders who have been diagnosed with a disability who need support in the areas of communication, social interactions and relationships. This camp will help students work on skills needed to build friendships, learn expectations of the high school setting, and develop confidence in many different social situations. Students will participate in a variety of fun activities and engaging lessons while getting to know other students in other Catholic Schools that have similar needs and experiences.
The Hartley Summer Dance Camp is a wonderful opportunity for any students with a love for dance—whether they have formal training or not! This 5-day camp will provide a creative outlet for students to collaborate with one another, learn choreographed dance pieces, and create their own dance compositions in small groups. At the end of the week, students will put on a short performance for family and friends from 12:00-12:30!
This camp reviews the basics of acting and applies them to theatrical works. Using scenes and songs from a variety of theatrical repertoire, students will explore what makes a character tick, learn to embody the character, and begin to analyze scripts - all while gaining the confidence to perform on stage in front of others!
The Hartley Summer Music Camp is an exciting, music-filled experience for students who want to learn more about their instruments, play new music, and meet other young musicians in the Diocese! The purpose of this camp is to give current orchestra and band students a chance to be able to learn some new music and make new friends in the process. The camp will be 8/9/21-8/13/21 and will be divided into two sections. String players will meet and rehearse from 9:00-12:00 every day, and Band students will meet from 1:00-4:00. At the end of the week, the students will put on a short performance for family and friends from 4:00-4:30!
Description: This camp offers students a hands-on experience in the world of Engineering. Campers will have the opportunity to build and program robots alongside our Engineering teacher and Hartley students. Engineering camp will strengthen students' programming skills, robotics understanding, and sense of competition and fun!
