Bishop Hartley 2021 SPICE* (Special People in Catholic Education) Social Group Summer Camp
*SPICE is an organization that supports inclusion in Catholic schools by raising awareness of students’ special needs and also funding programs/ support for students and their families in a Catholic school.
Our social group focuses on general social skills and the specific needs of students going through adolescence. This camp is designed for incoming 6th-9th graders who have been diagnosed with a disability who need support in the areas of communication, social interactions and relationships. This camp will help students work on skills needed to build friendships, learn expectations of the high school setting, and develop confidence in many different social situations. Students will participate in a variety of fun activities and engaging lessons while getting to know other students in other Catholic Schools that have similar needs and experiences.
This camp reviews the basics of acting and applies them to theatrical works. Using scenes and songs from a variety of theatrical repertoire, students will explore what makes a character tick, learn to embody the character, and begin to analyze scripts - all while gaining the confidence to perform on stage in front of others!
Description: This camp offers students a hands-on experience in the world of Engineering. Campers will have the opportunity to build and program robots alongside our Engineering teacher and Hartley students. Engineering camp will strengthen students' programming skills, robotics understanding, and sense of competition and fun!
