Freshmen math placements are based on students’ standardized test scores, the course taken during their 8th grade year, and their teacher recommendation. After Freshman year, placement is determined based on class performance, effort, and mindset.
Bishop Hartley has a Math Lab which takes place every day, staffed with a math teacher in addition to two upperclassmen who are prepared to handle any question a student may have in any math class offered throughout your four years of high school.
Every math teacher has an interactive inFocus or SMARTboard in their classroom to assist with instruction, class presentations, and exploratory learning.
Students may earn up to 14 semester hours of college credit while taking AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Calculus II, and Statistics through our College Credit Plus Program with Columbus State.
Every Algebra II student enrolls in an online course through Stanford University titled, “How to Learn Math.” This class gives students information they need to become powerful math learners and develop agrowth mindset. It can correct many misconceptions they have about what math is, and it teaches them about their own potential to succeed and the strategies needed to approach math effectively.
