WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT HARTLEY
What I love most about Hartley is the community. It is so great to be able to go to school knowing everyday that there are so many people who are ready to support you in any way that they can whether classmates, teachers, teammates, counselors, you name it. The Hartley community is also grounded in faith which helps keep it going when times get hard.
WHERE YOU CAN FIND ME
I play varsity football (look out for #31!) and I run track. I am involved in the Diversity Club and I recently started MBK (My Brother’s Keeper), which is one of the newest clubs at Bishop Hartley. Our focus is to not only empower young men of color, but all young men, to become great leaders and to pursue the highest education possible to reach for the stars. I am also a 2nd year member of National Honor Society.
I’m also a third year member of the Franklin County Youth Council and I received the Mayor’s 20 under 20 Award in 2019 which is given to the most influential young people under 20 years old in Columbus, Ohio. I have coordinated multiple clothing drives for our local homeless population and have also served on panels regarding teen mental health and wellness.
ABOUT MY HOUSE
I switched houses this year to Victory and although I’m new I’ve already felt the victorious energy. Victory House is the best because we have good student leadership and that produces creative out of the box ideas that can bring in great wins!
WHERE I'VE BEEN & WHERE I'M GOING
Before coming to Bishop Hartley, I attended All Saints Academy from Kindergarten through 8th grade. I loved All Saints, and it helped set the foundation for the leader I am today.
After graduating I would like to go to a potential HBCU (Historically Black College & University) and either pursue a pre-Med route to become a neuroscientist or pursue political science and go the pre-law route. Whatever I chose to do I will always look back and remember what got me there.
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS
My favorite teachers are Mrs. Komjati, Mr. Burchfield, and Mr. Krause because each one brings a different energy to your day that is simply contagious. Coach Burchfield is always full of energy and is so positive; he makes going to class everyday so enjoyable. I have so much respect for Mrs. Komjati not only because she is smart, but also because she is so positive. Last school year was a tough year but going to her class made it so much easier knowing that Mrs. Komjati was there to put a smile on your face. Mr. Krause's teaching style is what every students wants; he is a very mellow teacher but his humor makes his class a lot of fun and I’m grateful for all of the memories!
My favorite classes are science and history. Both courses have so much information but also have so much to be discovered about them so there are constant questions. That is how I see myself...as someone who knows a lot but wants to know more and asks a lot of questions.
WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS YEAR
It’s finally senior year! What I’m looking forward to most about senior year is being at school with everyone for a year and becoming closer with everyone; not only upperclass, but underclass as well.
MY FAVORITE QUOTES
"In this world it is not what we take up,
but what we give up, that makes us rich."
"In three words I can sum up everything
I’ve learned about life: it goes on."
