SCHOOL CAPTAIN

WHAT I LOVE MOST ABOUT HARTLEY

What I love most about Hartley is the community and preparation. Hartley not only prepares its students for college but for life as well. We emphasize the importance of diversity in our school but we also embrace it.

MORE ABOUT ME

Here at Hartley, I am a member of the Bishop Hartley Cheerleading Team and the Bishop Hartley Dance Team captain. I am also a member of Diversity Club. Outside of Bishop Hartley, I have previously served as the Legislative Chair and currently serve as the Vice President of the Columbus Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc, an organization dedicated to raising the next generation of African American leaders while enhancing the lives of all children. I am a founding member of the Commission on Black Girls and Young Women. I also serve on the Attorney General Dave Yost’s Teen Ambassador Board. I am a Junior Role Model with ErynPINK, an organization founded to encourage confidence in young black girls and to empower them to find and use their voices. I am also an employee of the City of Columbus through the youth career development program, APPS. I am also an upcoming entrepreneur in the hair industry as a hair braider.

ABOUT MY HOUSE

I was originally in Rosary House but I chose to represent Sacred Heart as a school captain. Sacred Heart is the best house and it isn’t a secret. We excel at house events like the Christmas Carol and Glee, not only because of our talent but because of our teamwork. We’re not only a family but we’re an elite house full of spirit and creativity.

WHERE I'VE BEEN & WHERE I'M GOING

Before coming to Bishop Hartley, I attended St. Catharine School.

After graduation, I plan to continue working until the fall semester, attending an HBCU college with a major in Political Science on a Pre-Law track.

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS

My favorite teachers are Ms. Castillo, Prof Schroyer, Mr. Gallick, Mr. VanDerMolen, and Mr. Dinovo. My favorite classes are Honors English with Mr. Burchfield and Honors Algebra II and Trigonometry with Mr. Kowalski.

My favorite lunch would have to be either chicken mashed potato bowl, tacos or, of course, the salad bar!

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS YEAR

I’m looking most forward to football games, cheering, homecoming, Senior Night, spending more time with my friends, graduation, and senior privileges.

MORE ABOUT ME

More about me? I love butterflies and I am very passionate about the development of young black girls, the growth and unity of the black community, and standing up for the black community. As a young black girl, I have always strived for a deeper meaning and connection in my life. I discovered this through the South African philosophy called Ubuntu. It emphasizes the importance of unity through its meaning of “I am because we are.” I ensure to keep this motivation throughout all aspects of my life, both inside and outside of Hartley.

MY FAVORITE QUOTE

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style."
