Alums Receive 1st Place for Innovation Project

Katie Price and Keira Hernandez, both members of the class of 2017, won 1st place for their “Threads, not Threats” project, described as a ‘wearable tech back-up plan” – one of 33 projects created at the Kent State Hackathon.

Students were given 36 hours to develop their project. (Katie said it was a lot like Project Runway.) Katie, Keira and their CCAD team created a prototype jean jacket with an alert sewn into the pocket. When the button is triggered, pre-determined emergency contacts such as your family and 911, are notified with your GPS location.

Katie and Keira are industrial design majors at CCAD.

Congratulations, ladies!
