Service Opportunities for Hawks

Coordinator
Mr. Bill Richards, Religion Department

brichard@cdeducation.org

Dear Students,

Service opportunities are organized according to category.   Hopefully this will help you find a volunteer project that suits your interests.  Unique, short term service opportunities are listed first under Dated Service Opportunities.  There are not always opportunities listed under this category.

Please feel free to e-mail me with questions about the service opportunities or, if you know of an organization that may make a good addition to our listing, please update me.

Sincerely,

Mr. Richards

Service Learning 2010-2011

With the House System implementation upcoming for 2010-2011, we have posted below a packet describing the new service learning requirements for 2010-11.  Every student, freshman to senior, will be required to complete 25 hours of community or parish service for the year.  Students were allowed to begin service work on June 1, 2010.

The packet is four pages in length.  Pages 1-2 give details about service expectations, including definitions of acceptable service.  Page 3 of the packet is the Service Verification Form. Page 4 contains information about a Service Portfolio.

Students should contact their House Dean for clarification of the service requirements or for advice in planning approved service.  As well, parents should feel free to contact the House Dean with their own questions or concerns.
