One School:  Six Pillars

A Pillar of Faith  As a Roman Catholic High School, Bishop Hartley is committed to enriching our students with the fullness of our Catholic traditions through intellectual growth, personal and community prayer, the celebration of the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation, yearly retreats and service.

A Pillar of Preparation  Each year, 98% of our students go on to two- or four-year colleges.  The Class of 2010, with over 140 graduates, earned over $7.9 million in academic scholarships.   Since 2006, our
graduating classes from
Bishop Hartley High
School have collectively
earned more than $27.9
million to post-secondary
educational institutions.

We prepare our students for the future by teaching our students to be critical thinkers, problem solvers and technologically literate individuals.

A Pillar of Community  Bishop Hartley honors the collaborative effort among family, church and school to foster a loving, safe and Christian environment for our students where they can learn, discover their gifts, and serve their community.

A Pillar of Service  The Gospel commands us to love our neighbor and at Bishop Hartley, our students put their beliefs into action, serving the lonely, hungry, homeless, sick and mentally ill.  Freshmen and sophomores have service learning requirements and the  junior retreat program is an "urban plunge" where students partake of community organizations as part of a planned day of prayer.

Stay Tuned!

In addition, each class conducts a year-long service project that is announced at an all-school liturgy during Homecoming Week and concludes at the Founder's Day Mass in May.

A Pillar of Spirit  Our enrollment is over 700.  This is big enough to offer a wide variety of classes and be financially stable, yet small enough to not lose familiarity with students and families.  When it comes to student learning, anonymity is the big enemy.  Our school size allows more participation in activities; amazingly, over 95% of our students are involved in at least one extra-curricular activity.  In our environment, students discover the shared values that bind them together.

A Pillar of Leadership

Leadership is a key ingredient in the development of a student’s responsibility and awareness of the impact they can have as they become young adults. Through the classroom, the House System, sports and clubs, students will gain valuable tools and assets that will help empower them to become better leaders and mentors.
